Florida Remembered was started as a research project between a published physical archaeologist & an American Historian with a penchant for online & library research into pre-Civil War, Civil War & the Reconstruction time frames of 1840-1890 as well as early 1900's Florida development up until the early 1960's.
The partnership of Florida Remembered is officially a member of 3 County Historical Societies; as well as a small business licensed in the State of Florida; the County of Seminole & the city of Winter Springs. The remote research offices are in Winter Springs- Seminole County, Gotha- Orange County & in DeLand- Volusia County.
Our Mailing Address is: 1929 Lake Pearl Drive, Gotha, FL 34734-6347 U.S.A. - Orange County.
We operate on both MAC & PC based equipment as well as all types of microfiche & other engineering/ archaeological equipment. We are now equipped with C.A.D. Architectural Software & the ability to provide duplicates of both Aerial & engineering drawings. We also will make available at additional cost: digital photography prints plus originals & prints of artistic renderings of both physical & historical properties by a published Volusia County Historical Society Artist.
PowerPoint Presentations &/or physical displays of research can also be assembled & production of panoramas, exhibits & other presentations- with taped or live commentary from the Historian can be arranged for a modest fee. We work in conjunction with PC Communications- PCComm Is our broadcast & production company representative for all exhibition type work.
¤ Our partnership commenced with a study of the Red Brick State Road off shoots of the "Old Dixie Highway" which we were originally given to believe was a group of brick roads leading from somewhere in Michigan down to around the Kissimmee region of Florida.
To perform our research we utilitze online & physical historical research sources. Community, Civic, State, Federal & alternative resources as well. These include: County & State civil road & engineering departments, libraries, County seats, permitting departments; we look up old deeds, quit claims, divorce, marriage & other birth records to seek out the provenance or lineage of both the property & the people who've owned it over the years.
¤ We've done research on the "Crab House" in Casselberry; plus a small cemetary called General Hooker's Cemetary but in fact is actually the Old Concord Church Cemetary; also in Casselberry.
¤ We've traced off shoot brick roads from Route 46A near Wekiva & off of Highway 50 in Winter Garden as well as off of 417 near Oviedo.
¤ We found the original paved & original asphalt road that made up the "western" fork of the 1916 Old Dixie highway up Route 17 past Volusia County & upwards.
¤ Florida Remembered partners are individuals & as such; tend to take on private party research.
Some of our singular & combined research projects have been:
{Historian} Tracing retired military personnel now possibly living or having died & who may be buried in the State of Florida.
{Archaeologist} Taking old photographs of now non existant buildings & helping to create renderings/ paintings of these buildings to aid in resident recognition of historic buildings.

A little later on in the research partnership; we were given a possible opportunity to work with a "green map" of historical landmarks in a Central Florida County. In order to do that; we had to become "legit".
